Job summary

AdaptHealth is seeking an Intake Specialist to support patient access to care by coordinating referrals, reviewing clinical documentation, and ensuring services are set up accurately and efficiently.

You will collaborate with patients, providers, and internal teams to navigate insurance requirements, confirm eligibility, and move the intake process forward smoothly in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of relatable work experience required.
• High School Diploma or better required; additional education in healthcare or admin preferred.
• Experience in management, administrative, clerical, insurance, billing, claims, call center, or customer service is a plus.
• Experience in healthcare organizations, pharmacy, HME, medical supply, or Medicare-certified environment is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with analytical, problem-solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Review patient documents, payer guidelines, and eligibility to determine qualification status and compliance.
• Communicate with patients about financial responsibility and document interactions.
• Contact patients when documents do not meet payer requirements and provide alternatives.
• Coordinate with referral sources, physicians, and clinical teams to obtain complete documentation.
• Enter referrals within established timeframes while meeting productivity and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate patient information using electronic systems.
