Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3–5 years related experience preferred; at least 12 months medical billing/follow-up in hospital patient accounts.
• Familiar with ICD-9/CPT coding and third-party payer verification; solid medical terminology.
• Strong communication and grammar; proficient keyboarding.
• Must be able to travel to varying work locations; background checks may be required.

Responsibilities

• Verify active insurance policies and benefits; determine authorization requirements.
• Update and resolve registration discrepancies.
• Communicate authorization needs to appropriate staff for services.
• Collaborate with departments on patient access information.
• Perform pre-registration and insurance verification for CHKDHS services.
• Provide coverage to assigned registration locations as needed.
• Act as Patient Account Tech I when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
