Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to handle inpatient and outpatient access services, including scheduling, verification, pre-certification, and financial clearance. You will perform real-time eligibility checks, insurance verification, and patient financial counseling to facilitate timely reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work rotating schedules/shifts.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Customer Service Oriented.
• Basic medical terminology knowledge.
• Proficient computer skills (MS Office/Google Suite).
• Ability to work every other weekend.
• Ability to work three holidays.

Responsibilities

• Greeting patients and visitors in person/phone in a prompt, courteous, respectful and helpful manner.
• Implementing scheduling, pre-registration, pre-certification, referral procurement and insurance verification policies for the outpatient point of service.
• Adhering to patient identification policy to maintain patient safety and prevent duplicate medical record numbers.
• Check-in and account for location and arrival/processing time of patients to ensure prompt service.
• Ensures regulatory forms are filled out and signed by the patient.
• Perform bed planning and registration related duties as assigned.
• Coordinate pre-registration/registration activities and ensure timely authorizations.
• Verify eligibility and benefits to ensure coverage for procedures.
• Assist patients with financial responsibilities, payment methods, and financial resources available.
