Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Clinic Support Specialist to perform a variety of billing and clerical tasks in our Birmingham clinic. Under supervision, you will check in patients, answer calls, enter demographics and insurance data, and ensure accurate revenue recording while delivering outstanding customer service.

Qualifications include 1 year of customer service experience and basic knowledge of medical terminology, PC software, and data entry. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Strong math and bookkeeping skills.
• Excellent telephone and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Check in scheduled and add-on patients to the clinic.
• Answer telephone and route calls.
• Enter demographic, insurance and charge data into the system.
• Check patients out of the clinic and perform follow-up as necessary.
• Provide assistance and respond to patient needs within the waiting room.
• Demonstrate outstanding customer service to patients, visitors, physicians and staff.
