Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a friendly clinic receptionist to support front-desk operations across our Birmingham area clinics. You will check in patients, enter demographic data, answer calls, and route inquiries with attentive service.

This role emphasizes accurate data entry, basic medical terminology, and courteous interactions, with a Monday–Friday schedule and full-time hours. Join a large health system recognized for patient care and education.

Qualifications

• 1 year of customer service experience required.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and advanced PC applications, software and database management.
• Be able to perform math and bookkeeping skills.
• Exceptional telephone and customer service skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Check in scheduled and add-on patients and enter demographic, insurance and charge data.
• Answer telephone and route calls, and enter demographic, insurance and charge data into the system.
• Check patients out of the clinic and perform patient follow-up as necessary.
• Provide assistance and respond to patient needs within the waiting room as needed.
• Demonstrate outstanding customer service to patients, visitors, physicians and staff.
