Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Access professional to support scheduling, preregistration, financial clearance, and authorization validation. You will collect and document information for patient billing while ensuring patients and families understand financial responsibilities.

The role emphasizes accurate data handling, effective communication with payors and physicians, and collaboration across departments to optimize patient access workflows.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or one – three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One previous year of related experience, preferably within a medical setting, financial services setting, and/or a demanding customer service environment
• Experience operating a PC and using software applications

Responsibilities

• Schedules and preregisters patients, validates demographic data, verifies medical benefits, and prepares information for timely bill submission.
• Verifies insurance information via phone, online resources, or electronic verification, and handles authorization/referral documentation.
• Identifies patient financial responsibilities, estimates costs, collects liabilities, and processes post-payment transactions in the ADT system; escalates issues as needed.
• Delivers positive patient experiences and maintains relationships with patients, AHN leadership, physician offices, and external agencies.
• Focuses on productivity and suggests improvements to enhance performance and efficiency.
• Adheres to AHN policies and completes required training within guidelines; performs other duties as assigned.
