Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is looking for a patient access coordinator to create a positive first impression for patients and families upon arrival. You will handle scheduling, registration, financial clearance, and insurance verification, and you may collect payments when applicable.

The role requires attention to detail, empathy, and the ability to multitask in a high-acuity environment. You will ensure patient confidentiality, enter data into the EHR during downtime, and adhere to EMTALA

Qualifications

• High School/GED or equivalent, or related experience/training.
• Experience operating a PC and using software applications.
• One year of related experience, preferably in medical or high-demand customer service settings.

Responsibilities

• Conducts scheduling, registration, and admitting functions independently at bedside and verifies insurance information.
• Collects and updates data for accurate billing submissions, including workers' compensation and motor vehicle claims.
• Delivers positive patient experience and communicates with patients, families, and external agencies to maintain productive relationships.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and accurate electronic health record entries, including during system downtime.
• Responds calmly to inquiries from patients, visitors, and staff under various circumstances.
• Adheres to AHN policies and mandatory training; performs other duties as assigned.
