Job summary

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO is seeking a Patient Access Representative to be the first point of contact for patients. You will schedule, register, verify benefits, obtain accurate data and support financial clearance with accuracy and compassion.

The role requires clerical and customer service experience, familiarity with medical terminology and insurance plans, and a high school diploma. Full-time or part-time shifts available.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years clerical experience and customer service experience preferred.
• Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred.
• High School diploma required; some college helpful.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate all components of the patient’s entrance into Mercy facilities, including scheduling, registration, and financial clearance.
• Ensure the most accurate patient data is obtained and entered into the patient record.
• Maintain knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines and applicable regulations.
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, clinical and non-clinical staff and insurance companies.
