Job summary

Optum is hiring an Associate Patient Care Coordinator to support patient access and front-office duties in a clinical setting. You will greet patients, check them in, verify insurance, and collect co-pays while ensuring accurate data entry and timely referrals.

This role emphasizes compassionate service and accurate information handling. Ideal candidates have 1+ year of customer service experience in healthcare, strong communication, and the ability to work a static weekend schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1+ years of customer service experience in hospital/office settings.
• Ability to work as scheduled (Wed 10:00am–4:00pm, Thu–Sun 10:00am–10:00pm).
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify demographics and insurance eligibility.
• Enter or verify patient data in computer systems in real time.
• Process referrals, pre-certifications, pre-determinations, and pre-authorizations.
• Verify coverage and create price estimates as needed.
• Collect co-pays and discuss financial obligations with patients.
• Identify outstanding balances and attempt collections when appropriate.
• Coordinate scheduling with provider offices prior to discharge.
• Respond to inquiries with compassionate, respectful communication.
• Analyze patient data and follow up on inconsistencies.
