Job summary

Los Angeles Community Hospital at Bellflower is seeking a Patient Access Rep II to coordinate efficient admissions for inpatients and outpatients. You will verify records, collect payments, and ensure accurate data entry and insurance eligibility.

Qualifications

Two years of admitting office and/or PBX operator experience.
High School Diploma or GED.
Basic Understanding of Medical Terminology.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Strong time management skills.
Ability to multitask and maintain a work pace appropriate to workload.
Computer literacy and proficiency.
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card within 30 days of hire date (Hollywood and Van Nuys only).

Responsibilities

Registers patients according to department procedures and completes admission forms accurately.
Verifies medical record status using Master Patient Index before entering information.
Ensures patient information is entered accurately.
Prepares patient financial folder and distributes copies to departments.
Ensures each account is billable and pre-certification requirements are met.
Contacts physician offices to obtain required pre-admission information and ensures authorization for procedures.
Explains hospital policies regarding payment and collects payments with receipts.
Requests identification and insurance cards and obtains copies.
Verifies insurance coverage and eligibility.
Ensures an identification bracelet is given upon admission.
Operates PBX and handles calls professionally.
Pagers as needed and communicates emergency codes when required.
Ensures physicians are authorized to admit patients and refers delinquencies to admin.
Maintains a safe environment and confidentiality of patients, families, employees, and visitors.
