Job summary

Los Angeles Community Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Representative II to efficiently admit inpatients and outpatients, verify patient information, and explain hospital policies. The role requires strong communication, time management, multitasking, and computer skills, with a focus on accuracy and customer service.

Hospital PBX operation and insurance verification are key duties; bilingual skills are a plus.

Qualifications

Two years of admitting office and/or PBX operator experience.
High School Diploma or GED.
Basic Understanding of Medical Terminology.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Strong time management skills.
Ability to multitask and maintain a work pace appropriate to workload.
Computer literacy and proficiency.
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card within 30 days of hire date (Hollywood and Van Nuys only).

Responsibilities

Registers all patients according to department procedures. Completes all necessary admission forms accurately and thoroughly.
Prepares the patients financial folder and distributes copies to appropriate departments.
Ensures that each account is billable and that pre-certification requirements are met.
Operates PBX and answers all incoming calls and transfers to the appropriate department or patient room.
Provides a safe environment for patients, visitors and others. Maintains confidentiality of patients, families, employees, and visitors.
