Job summary

Southern California Hospitals is seeking a Patient Access Rep I to support efficient hospital admissions. You will gather accurate patient information, explain policies, and assist with pre-admission and billing basics.

This role requires strong communication, customer service, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment. On-site in Los Angeles, you will operate the PBX, verify insurance, and protect patient confidentiality while coordinating with multiple departments to ensure a smooth intake

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One year of previous experience in a customer service role.
• Basic Understanding of Medical Terminology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong time management skills.
• Ability to multitask and maintain a work pace appropriate to workload.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Computer literacy and proficiency.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card within 30 days of hire date (Hollywood and Van Nuys only).

Responsibilities

• Registers all patients according to department procedures. Completes all necessary admission forms accurately and thoroughly. Verifies the medical record status using Master Patient Index function. Ensures that the patient’s name and information are entered accurately.
• Ensures accounts are billable, handles pre-certification and collects payments; provides receipts. Collects identification and insurance cards; verifies coverage.
• Operates PBX and answers calls; transfers to appropriate department or room; paging when required.
• Ensures physicians are authorized to admit patients and refers delinquency cases to administration.
• Provides a safe environment and maintains confidentiality for patients, families, employees, and visitors.
