Job summary

Sanford Health in Mitchell, SD is seeking a Patient Access Representative to greet patients, verify demographics, create and route documents, collect co-payments, and help with scheduling across Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and OBGYN clinics.

As the first point of contact, you will ensure a welcoming, safe environment, answer multi-line calls, coordinate referrals, pre-authorizations, and patient financial assistance while keeping accurate records and supporting telehealth

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
• Medical terminology helpful; customer service skills essential.
• Six months' customer service experience desired.
• May require BLS for certain locations and/or settings.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and verify demographics.
• Create, scan and route documents or electronic forms.
• Inform patients about documents and capture signatures.
• Establish financial responsibility and assist with arrangements.
• Collect co-payments, pre-payments and payments on accounts.
• May address registration errors or denied claims.
• Coordinate scheduling with nursing team and providers.
• Obtain referrals and conduct pre-authorization.
• Arrange interpreter services and check patients in/out.
• Operate multi-line phone and manage recalls/waitlists.
• Serve as switchboard and paging provider as needed.
• Prepare and coordinate charts and supporting documents.
• Coordinate telemed appointments and reminders.
