Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative (PRN) to provide outstanding patient service as the first point of contact in the clinic or over the phone. You will verify demographics, collect payments, and help patients navigate scheduling and paperwork in a welcoming environment.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; post-secondary education helpful.
• One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office; medical terminology helpful.
• Customer service skills essential; six months' customer service experience desired.
• BLS may be required for certain locations/settings.

Responsibilities

• Register patients: greet, verify demographics, scan forms, capture signatures.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate referrals and pre-authorizations.
• Answer multi-line phone, manage queues, assist with reminders; support telemedicine when needed.
• Prepare and organize patient charts and supporting provider documents.

Our PRN staff have flexible hours and cover open shifts, including assisting on weekends as needed (and possibly holidays).

We offer an overnight differential (if you choose to cover an overnight shift) as well as a weekend differential and holiday pay. Any hours worked over 40 per week are eligible for overtime.

Job Description

REGISTRATION

• Greet patients & verifies demographics
• Creating, scanning & routing documents or electronic forms
• Inform patients what the document is & capture signatures on necessary paperwork
• Establishes and assigns financial responsibility and assists with arrangements while adhering to appropriate policies and procedures
• Collects co-payments, pre-payments, and payments on account balances
• May work through the registration work queue to address and resolve registration errors or denied insurance claims

SCHEDULING

• Work with nursing team & providers to coordinate & schedule appointments to meet patient's needs, coordinate provider schedule
• Obtain and coordinate referrals & conduct pre-authorization
• Arrange interpreter services
• Check patients in/out
• Operate multi-line phone
• May resolve work queue issues, manage recall and waitlists, & serve as switchboard operator calling codes and paging providers

ADDITIONAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE

• Preparation & coordination of charts
• Organize supporting provider documents
• Initiation & collaboration of patient financial assistance
• Track patient visits & health information management on patient accounts
• Compile, distribute, administer, and score assessments
• Coordination of Telemed appointments
• Reminder calls for appointments
• Hospital admission
• Office duties, such as make copies or send faxes

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Post-secondary education helpful.

One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Medical terminology helpful; customer service skills essential. Six months' customer service experience desired.

May require BLS for certain locations and/or settings.
