Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a Patient Service Representative to be the first point of contact for patients. You will greet and check-in/out patients, verify information, and support registration, scheduling, and billing processes in a busy clinic setting.

This PRN role covers varying hours with no guaranteed hours. The position emphasizes patient satisfaction, confidentiality, and adherence to EMR documentation standards in a healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Six months of customer service experience involving interactions with customers.
• Demonstrated basic computer skills involving word processing and data entry.
• Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with patients and fellow caregivers to deliver the highest level of customer/patient satisfaction.
• Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and PHI of patients, members, and caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Provides courteous and professional connections with patients over the phone, in person or via secure messaging; resolves needs related to intake and care.
• Documents all phone calls accurately in the EMR.
• Schedules patient appointments for visits, procedures, tests, referrals, and consultations.
• Registers patients by confirming and updating demographic data in the registration system.
• Obtains insurance cards, IDs, signatures; may verify benefits and pre-authorization as needed.
• Assists patients with forms to meet regulatory and billing needs; educates on financial assistance; processes payments.
• Stays current on responsibilities via emails, dashboards, meetings, and shift reviews to ensure high performance.
