Job summary

SOME (So Others Might Eat) in Washington, DC seeks a Patient Service Coordinator to support front desk operations, greet and register clients, verify insurance, and coordinate referrals. The role requires healthcare familiarity and strong customer service skills.

The position is based at the main campus on O Street NW with occasional travel to Benning Road NE; schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:30 am–4:00 pm, 40 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• HS/GED or 2+ years of work experience in a related role.
• 1+ years administrative experience in a Primary Care or Acute Care setting or similar.
• CPR/First-Aid; Basic Life Support (CPR & AED) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and visitors, check them in and register accurately.
• Verify insurance eligibility prior to provider visit and direct insured/uninsured accordingly.
• Direct clients to Referral Specialist when no insurance is available.
• Maintain waiting area flow and HIPAA compliance at front desk.
• Scan forms into EMR and update client information as needed.
• Answer calls and provide administrative support to medical, dental, and behavioral health teams.
