Job summary

WVU Medicine is seeking a Registration Specialist to collect and verify patient demographics, insurance details, and payments. You will enter data into registration and billing systems, handle deposits and co-pays, and prepare consent forms and notices related to treatment and financial obligations.

The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to operate in a high-volume hospital setting, with daily interactions across patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Background check requirements as per regulations.
• Ability to handle high-volume, fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Obtain demographic/billing/insurance information and enter into registration and billing systems.
• Possibly handle pre-certification and authorizations for managed care.
• Prepare and present consent forms and collect signatures for treatment and financial obligations.
• Collect deposits/co-payments/deductibles and document payments.
• Prepare patient armband and balance daily receipts as needed.
• Schedule, reschedule, or cancel patients per hospital workflows.
• Check order completeness and validate against scheduled services.
