WVU Medicine WVUH in Fairmont, WV is seeking a detail-oriented Patient Access representative to manage patient registration, verify insurance, and collect payments. You will work in a high-volume setting with accuracy and courtesy, ensuring proper data entry and smooth workflow.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable) background check as required for regulated areas.
Prior experience with patient registration or medical billing systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

Obtain demographic, billing and insurance information from patient/family and enter into registration and billing systems.
Assist with pre-certification and authorizations where applicable.
Prepare consent forms and privacy notices; obtain electronic signatures.
Collect deposits, co-payments, deductibles and patient liability payments; provide receipts and record in systems.
Prepare patient armbands for identification.
Balance daily receipts and cash drawer; follow up on flagged accounts.
Initiate screenings and gather information for coverage; complete related paperwork.
Perform medical necessity checks and complete required notices.
Schedule, reschedule, or cancel patient appointments per hospital workflows.
Verify orders for completeness against scheduled services.
