Job summary

Emerus is seeking a Part-Time Admissions Liaison in Schertz to coordinate patient tracking, be the interface between patients, payers and the health care team, and assist in billing and revenue cycle activities.

The role emphasizes accurate demographic data collection, insurance verification, and required authorizations while delivering courteous customer service and maintaining compliance with HIPAA, EMTALA and related regulations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting; 2 years preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience, strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors, required.
• Fluency in English; written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA compliance in admissions settings and handling of medical records.
• Provide excellent customer service and build quality relationships with customers.
• Answer telephone in a professional and courteous manner and relay messages.
• Provide and obtain signatures on required forms and consents.
• Enter complete and accurate demographic information to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Verify insurance benefits and ensure correct payor and plan are entered.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required by plans.
• Pursue collections at the time of service in a service-oriented manner.
• Scan registration and clinical documentation and maintain medical records.
• Assist with coordinating transfers between hospitals when necessary.
• Respond to medical record requests from patients, physicians and hospitals.
• Maintain cash drawer and log payments and admissions.
• Maintain visitor/vendor logs.
