Job summary

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, at least one year in office clerical or customer service roles, and strong Microsoft Office skills.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Experience: One year in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and website navigation; good problem solving, conflict management, time management, and strong written and verbal communication.
• Complete all role-specific revenue cycle training and certification within 12 months.
• Preferred: Three years in office/clerical; revenue cycle or medical setting; CPT4/ICD9/10 knowledge; medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Ensure each registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record with demographics, insurance, and guarantor details.
• Explain financial responsibilities for services and patient expectations during visits.
• Provide excellent patient service over the phone or in person, creating a positive first impression.
• Navigate a complex, multi-payer environment to resolve issues efficiently.

Expected pay for this position is $18.80 - $22.12/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Patient Access Associate ensures each registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record, which includes patient demographics, insurance coverage, responsible guarantor and registration precision in a manner which they understand what services they are receiving, their financial responsibilities for the services provided, and expectations of them while at the facility. Excellent patient service skills are expected to create an exceptional first impression of OSF’s services to the patients, families, and other external patients over the phone or in person. A high degree of deductive reasoning and logic skills are necessary in order to solve issues that can arise in a complex, multi-payer situation.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or GED

Experience: One year in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.

Other skills/knowledge: Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications and website navigation. Problem solving, conflict management, time management, good oral and written communication skills. Required to complete all role specific revenue cycle training and certification within 12 months.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Three years in an office clerical setting or customer service environment. Direct experience in a revenue cycle or medical setting.

Other skills/knowledge: Advanced knowledge of CPT4, ICD9/10, HCPCS, and modifiers. Knowledge of medical terminology.
