Job summary

Optum, in strategic partnership with Allina Health, is hiring a Patient Access Representative Associate in Minneapolis to greet patients, collect demographic and insurance data, and guide them through the registration process in the EMR. The role supports care access and financial counseling with a $1,000 external sign-on bonus.

Job duties include verifying coverage, collecting payments, and directing patients to appointments while documenting issues in the EMR.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of customer service experience in healthcare, retail, food service, bank/office settings, call center, or other settings that engage with customers.

Responsibilities

• Greets and welcomes patient in person
• Collects demographic and insurance information
• Checks in and interviews patients to complete appropriate paperwork
• Directs patient to their appointment or procedure
• May assist in scheduling add-on appointments
• Documents any issues and resolutions in electronic medical record
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits information for payers
• Explain cost information to patient as needed
• Collect co-pay or deductibles and respond to questions regarding financial assistance programs
• Screen and approve patients for financial assistance programs
• Assist patients in completion of information request forms
• Obtain signatures from patients as needed
• Provide customer service for inbound and outbound calls
• May mentor other staff as needed
• Other duties as assigned
