Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3-6 months of work experience required.
• 6-8 week in-house registration procedures and medical terminology courses upon hire.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Conducts patient interviews to collect financial, biographic and demographic information for admission or registration.
• Explains financial requirements and collects deposits or deductibles as needed; explains insurance coverages and precertification/preauthorization where applicable.
• Prepares pre-admission and admitting forms; facilitates room transfers and admission/discharge reports.
• Reviews pre-arrival and admission information to verify insurance coverage and eligibility.
• Maintains the insurance master file and coordinates precertification requirements with insurers and third parties.
