Job summary

MyMichigan Health is seeking a Registration and Insurance Verification Specialist to support all registration areas. The role includes collecting co-pays and posting payments while reviewing coverage and patient responsibilities at discharge.

You will verify benefits online, discuss costs with patients, and arrange payment plans, ensuring accurate registration and MSP documentation across Midland, Clare, and Gratiot locations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year experience with insurance and patient accounts.
• Typing and basic PC knowledge to enter patient information.
• Basic math proficiency and customer service skills.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate clearly with diverse individuals.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Medical terminology knowledge preferred; hospital setting preferred.
• CHAA certification preferred; MyMichigan Health Windows competency required.
• Willingness to participate in additional training opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Collects co-pay amounts, posts payment in the system, prints receipts, and balances cash at end of shift.
• Meets with patient/family to explain insurance, costs, and discharge obligations; sets up payment plans.
• Makes financial arrangements for uninsured or underinsured patients; informs about financial assistance programs.
• Accesses insurance eligibility sites to verify benefits and document copay/deductible information.
