Job summary

MultiCare Auburn Medical Center is seeking a Patient Access Technician to accurately admit and register patients. This role, a part-time daytime position, involves completing registrations, coordinating bed assignments, and facilitating efficient admissions in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Responsibilities include collecting demographic and insurance information, verifying eligibility, and referring financial assistance needs to the Financial Counselor when appropriate.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a health vocational program such as Patient Access or Medical Billing & Insurance.
• Or one year of experience performing admitting, Health Unit Coordinator, patient registration, customer service or billing duties.

Responsibilities

• Ensure complete and accurate patient admissions/registrations according to organization policy and regulations.
• Obtain inpatient bed assignments and process admissions, including arm banding and forms.
• Pre-admit all scheduled inpatient, outpatients and ambulatory patients to facilitate a smooth admission/registration process.
• Enter reservations in the computer system to notify other areas.
• Conduct bedside or telephone interviews to obtain demographic, insurance and third-party liability information.
• Perform eligibility verification and resolve discrepancies; determine need for financial assistance and refer to the Financial Counselor when necessary.
