Job summary

MultiCare’s Off-Campus Emergency Departments are seeking a Patient Access Technician to greet patients and manage admissions and registrations at one of our WA facilities. The role interfaces with financial and clinical teams to optimize the patient experience in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements include a health vocational program graduate and at least one year of admitting, billing, or customer service experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of health vocational program such as patient access, medical assistance, medical billing and insurance or medical general, required
• One year of admitting, billing, registration or customer service experience may be considered in lieu of education

Responsibilities

• Ensure complete and accurate patient admissions/registrations according to policy and regulatory requirements
• Obtain inpatient bed assignments and process admissions, including arm banding and forms
• Pre-admit all scheduled inpatient, outpatients and ambulatory patients to facilitate smooth admission/registration
• Obtain direct admit information and enter a reservation in the system to notify other areas
• Conduct bedside or telephone interviews to collect demographic, insurance and third party information
• Perform eligibility verification and resolve discrepancies; determine need for financial assistance and refer to Financial Counselor when needed
