Job summary

MultiCare Health System is seeking a Patient Access Technician (PAT) to welcome patients at one of our Off-Campus Emergency Departments in Washington. The role collaborates with financial and clinical teams to create an optimal patient experience.

The position involves completing admissions/registrations and coordinating with various departments to ensure smooth admissions. Requires a health vocational program graduate and/or 1 year of admitting/billing/registration or customer service

Qualifications

• Graduate of health vocational program such as patient access, medical assistance, medical billing and insurance or medical general, required
• One year of admitting, billing, registration or customer service experience may be considered in lieu of education

Responsibilities

• Assure complete and accurate patient admissions/registrations according to organization policy and procedures and regulatory requirements
• Obtain inpatient bed assignments and processes inpatient admission, to include arm banding, addressograph plate, and completion of necessary forms
• Pre-admit all scheduled inpatient, outpatients and ambulatory patients to facilitate a smooth and speedy admission/registration process
• Obtain direct admit information and enter a reservation in the computer system in order to notify other areas
• Complete comprehensive bedside or telephone interviews with patient, relative, or their representative to obtain pertinent demographic insurance and/or third party liability information
• Perform eligibility verification and resolves any discrepancies, determine need for financial assistance recommendation and application, referring to the Financial Counselor where necessary
