Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Main Campus is seeking a Pathologists’ Assistant to support accurate diagnoses by examining and dissecting surgical specimens for histologic evaluation. You will work with pathologists and staff to ensure quality, documentation, and regulatory compliance while maintaining equipment and contributing to education and mentorship of residents and students.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from an NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program.
• ASCP certification eligibility required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Chemistry with ASCP training.
• At least 2 years of experience as a certified Pathologists’ Assistant (PA ASCP).
• Diploma and/or transcripts must be provided.
• Foreign credentials must be translated if earned outside the US.
• Pathologists’ Assistant certification eligibility by ASCP.

Responsibilities

• Perform gross examination, description, and dissection of human surgical specimens.
• Assist with fresh tissue procurement for ancillary studies.
• Enter and maintain accession and results in LIS and records.
• Perform high‑complexity testing per CLIA, CAP, and institutional policies.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and patient safety through proper handling.
• Maintain instruments and pathology work areas per manufacturer specs.
• Provide training and supervision to pathology residents and students.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions.
