Job summary

University Hospitals is seeking a Pathologists' Assistant II to support high-volume surgical pathology in an academic medical center. You will perform gross examination and dissection of specimens from biopsies to complex resections, and prepare tissue for microscopic evaluation.

The role includes performing frozen sections and processing samples for ancillary studies such as cytogenetics, immunofluorescence, and research, while maintaining meticulous documentation and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Pathologists' Assistant is required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science or accredited Pathologists' Assistant program is required.
• PA-ASCP certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs macroscopic dissection and description of surgical specimens from biopsies to large resections.
• Prepares tissue for microscopic examination and processes tissue for ancillary studies (cytogenetics, immunofluorescence, research).
• Performs frozen sections for intraoperative consultation and ensures proper labeling and chain of custody.
• Mentors residents and staff and serves as an educational liaison.
• Maintains laboratory equipment and ensures safety compliance.
