Job Details

Jean-Georges Vongerichten is one of the world’s most famous chefs whose skills extend far beyond the kitchen. A savvy businessman and restaurateur, Jean-Georges is responsible for the operation and success of a constellation of three and four star restaurants worldwide.

Strategic Intent

The entire culinary team must understand and implement the standards and vision of Jean-Georges Vongerichten, while following all directives of kitchen management. All cooks are responsible for delivering high-quality food and service at all times, managing daily operational procedures, and ensuring food production and plating meet company specifications and timing standards. They must adhere to company recipes consistently.

Organizational Structure

Reports to the Pastry Chefs

Duties and Supporting Responsibilities
  • Provide food as dictated by the menu, guests, or management in a clean, safe, and timely manner. Maintain a clean work area and a positive attitude, assisting wherever necessary to exceed guest expectations.
  • Follow directions and maintain good working relationships with supervisors and managers.
  • Follow proper payroll and uniform procedures.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and properly.
  • Utilize the computer system and read all orders accurately.
  • Prepare and present all foods on a timely basis for meal service.
  • Handle all types of food and rotate according to established procedures.
  • Work closely with standard recipes and plate presentation to maintain quality standards.
  • Work standing for up to ten hours in a kitchen environment.
  • Ensure a clean, neat, and organized work area.
  • Work flexible hours.
Education and Training
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Two-year degree or Apprenticeship
  • Up-to-date Sanitation Classes
Experience and Skill Requirements
  • Minimum of one year experience in a pastry kitchen
Physical Requirements
  • Stand/Walk 8-12 hours a day
Other Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods
  • Sufficient dexterity to use all kitchen equipment
  • Ability to lift, bend, stoop, walk, push, and pull heavy equipment for extended periods
  • Perform duties in extreme temperature ranges
Compensation

The base pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00 per hour, depending on factors such as prior employment, qualifications, and skills.
