The role involves baking, teamwork, following recipes, and ensuring high-quality pastries for a premiere New England luxury property.

Qualifications

• General knife handling, food safety & sanitation knowledge.
• Comfortable working in a fast paced and high energy environment.
• High volume restaurant or bakery experience preferred.
• Able to take constructive criticism, learn quickly and constantly improve.
• Able to follow recipes without direct supervision.
• Strong time management skills and able to execute dishes consistently and effectively.
• Full availability (including weekends).

Responsibilities

• Mix and bake ingredients to produce bread, rolls, cookies, cakes, pies, pastries, or other baked goods.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
• Assist Pastry Chef in expanding bread programs and offerings throughout the Mayflower.
• Assist Pastry Chef in launching a Grab & Go Pastries & Sweets program for guests of the Mayflower.
• Ensure proper storage of food items not used, following all proper standards for refrigeration and storage.
• Supervise, operate, maintain, and properly clean all kitchen equipment.
• Ensure that sanitation standards as set forth by local, state & federal Health Department regulations are in compliance as well as the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and its equipment.
• Monitor and maintain the use of safe food handling procedures as well as a safe working environment by using correct food-handling skills and food safety guidelines.
• Maintain and supervise neat professional appearance and observe personal cleanliness rules at all time.
