Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader for before/after-school and day camp programs in the Woodlands, TX. You’ll create a safe, engaging space where kids learn, play, and grow under supervision aligned with YMCA standards.

You’ll lead activities, model core YMCA values, and build strong relationships with children, families, and staff. The role offers part-time hours with a base pay of $13/hour plus a $3/hour temporary stipend in eligible locations.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience working with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, fun, and enriching environment where youth feel supported, valued, and excited to learn.
• Monitor activities, conduct headcounts, and respond to situations using YMCA policies and training.
• Foster a welcoming environment using positive behavior-management techniques.
• Lead YMCA curriculum through games, projects, and hands-on learning.
• Model YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith.
• Help maintain a clean, organized program space and ensure licensing standards.
• Build relationships with children, families, school staff, and YMCA team.
• Follow all child-protection policies and supervise program areas.
