HomeFirst in San Jose is seeking a part-time Community Engagement Coordinator for Bernal. Join a mission-driven team to coordinate volunteers, build community partnerships, and support housing-focused programs at Bernal EIH.

You will manage scheduling, trainings, and compliance while advancing harm reduction and Housing First principles. The role emphasizes relationship-building with neighbors, donors, and local organizations, plus event planning, reporting, and community outreach.

Qualifications

• Two years related experience with Bachelor’s Degree or AA Degree, or five years related experience with High School Diploma.
• Experience in coordinating volunteers, events, and community engagement is preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to facilitate meetings.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Bernal EIH volunteer activities: recruitment, placement, scheduling, hours tracking, and training.
• Build relationships with groups, individuals, and corporations to engage in agency work.
• Secure workshop facilitators and ensure quarterly attendance requirements at Bernal.
• Track TB tests, certifications, and fingerprinting for volunteers.
• Train volunteers and staff on the volunteer portal and maintain forms and sign-ins.
• Develop monthly site calendars for workshops, meals, and activities.
• Engage with DEI initiatives and support special events and community outreach.
