Job summary

The City of Albany is seeking a part-time Parking Enforcement & Traffic Control Technician to join the Police Department. This civilian, non-sworn role conducts parking enforcement, traffic control, and related reporting in the community, patrolling streets and assisting during incidents.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid California driver's license, and at least one year of customer-service or public-contact experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid California Driver License with clean driving record.
• At least one year of customer-service or public-contact experience.
• Previous parking enforcement experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Patrol city streets and issue citations for parking violations.
• Chalk tires and verify violations; issue overtime citations.
• Issue citations using a handheld computer and handwritten forms.
• Document violations and prepare reports on 72-hour parking restrictions.
• Direct traffic and respond to traffic or emergency situations.
• Inform the public of parking regulations.
• Testify in admin hearings and court cases.
• Operate department vehicle and respond to service calls.
