The part-time technology support position allows for a maximum of29 weekly hours. This position participates in various supportivefunctions for all College-owned computers, laptops, peripherals,and software for student, faculty, and staff end-users in computingspaces, classrooms, and libraries. It supports onboarding workersfor network and telecommunications. Reports to Coordinator,Technology Support.

NOTE: This is an open applicant pool. Positions arefilled by the department on an as-needed basis. Unless specificallystated, part-time positions are not eligible for the College'sbenefits package.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists with the technical support of all College-ownedtechnology for students, faculty, and staff end-users.
  • Works with Technology Support staff to accomplish completion ofprojects and tasks with developed timelines.
  • Assists with maintaining accurate documentation and tracking ofsupport and service for all student, faculty, and staff end-users,computer equipment, software, and peripherals.
  • Assists with follow-up support for end-users, asnecessary.
  • Assists with documentation for training and instruction for allstudent, faculty, and staff end- users.
  • Assists with the security, cleanliness, and orderly conditionof computer spaces and all working spaces, equipment, andfacilities. Reports any recommendations to the Technologystaff.
  • Assists with an accurate inventory of supplies and systems asrequested by Technology staff.
  • Processes telecommunication transactions for new workers,change requests for existing workers, and provides training asneeded.
  • Assists various basic network & telecommunicationsactivities, including, but not limited to, cabling,telecommunication system configuration, network configuration, andend-user support.
  • Responsible for knowing and conforming to all safety practicesand regulations that apply to this specific area and position. Unsafe conditions should be reported to the immediate supervisorand to the Pensacola State College Police Department/PublicSafety.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the abilityto be detail-oriented in a fast-paced, team-orientedenvironment.
  • Problem-solving skills, including researching for technicalinquiries and providing solutions. Must demonstrate a positiveattitude and excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively and respectfully with teammembers as well as independently.
  • May be required to travel in-district.
Minimum Qualifications

High school coursework or documentedcourse completion related to computer-oriented support/training. Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Windows operating systems, Office applications, and Outlook email are required. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

Background Check Requirement

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted onevery successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
