Job summary

Anna Jaques Hospital in Peabody, MA, seeks a Surgical Technologist for a part-time, day shift totaling 20 hours across two 10-hour blocks, with mandatory on-call coverage. The ST will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse/Circulating Nurse in a fast-paced surgical setting.

The role requires completing aseptic technique, instrument handling, and collaboration with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and efficient turnover.

Qualifications

• Graduate of CAAHEP-accredited surgical technology program.
• Certification preferred. New Hires must obtain certification within one month of hire.
• Greater than one year of experience.
• Demonstrates the ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist and collaborate with the Circulating nurse to set up for surgical procedures with proper instrumentation, equipment and supplies.
• Primary role is as a ST, passing instruments and supplies to the surgeon at the sterile field.
• Anticipates needs of surgical team during the procedure and provides them with proper instruments, equipment, supplies to meet these needs.
• Collaborates with the Circulating nurse to insure the accuracy of all sponge, sharps and instrument counts according to established policies and procedures.
• Responsible for application of the principles of asepsis to maintain integrity of the sterile field.
• Participates in the quality improvement/quality assurance process at the unit level.
• Must be able to take assignment of on-call for specified nights, weekends and holidays.
