Job summary

IRMC Physician Group - Urology Department is seeking a part-time Surgery Scheduler to support pre-registration, scheduling and patient communication. This on-site role collaborates with office staff, OR and preregistration teams to ensure accurate demographics, insurance data and smooth registration for procedures.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma (medical secretarial preferred) and CPR is a plus; strong customer service, telephone etiquette and basic billing awareness are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate.
• Business or medical secretarial graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Current CPR certification preferred.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and billing procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-registration function with office, OR, preregistration department and/or surgery centers.
• Provide excellent customer service during patient calls to obtain or verify demographic and insurance information.
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and explain financial responsibilities before service.
• Provide patient with instructions for scheduled appointments/procedures and answer questions.
• Collect copays/coinsurances and issue receipts as appropriate.
• Communicate surgical lists and schedules to office, billing, and providers.
