Job summary

Tidewater Community College in Norfolk is seeking two Academic Success Coaches to support student persistence and success on the Norfolk Campus. These part-time, grant-funded roles focus on personalized academic success planning, skill development, and campus engagement for low‑income and underserved students.

The positions aim to provide holistic, wraparound support and improve retention and graduation outcomes for traditional and adult learners.

Qualifications

Experience working with at-risk or underserved college students.
Strong advising principles and student development theory.
Proficiency with CRM platforms (e.g., Navigate).
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to collaborate across departments.

Responsibilities

Conduct one-on-one coaching to develop Academic Success Plans.
Lead 5-week and 10-week progress check-ins to monitor academic performance.
Lead workshops on syllabus navigation, time management, study skills, and goal setting.
Provide SAP awareness sessions and assist with SAP appeals.
Collaborate with tutoring, advising, and faculty to deliver wraparound support for at-risk students.
Track student progress in Navigate or CRM, escalate flags when necessary, and ensure timely interventions.
Support students with referrals to tutoring, counseling, financial aid and follow up on next steps.
Facilitate regular Aff… (virtual or in-person) to promote belonging and peer support.
Provide insights to staff and leadership about challenges and improvement strategies.
Participate in retention team meetings, success campaigns, and onboarding initiatives.
