Barnes & Noble College in the United States is seeking a part-time Supervisor to support management, coach staff, and deliver outstanding customer service on the sales floor.

The role involves overseeing daily operations, training team members, handling transactions, and ensuring proper merchandising. Candidates should have retail experience, strong communication, and be available for flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in a retail setting preferred.
• Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age to be considered for employment.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Outstanding customer service skills to match customers to products that meet their needs.
• Basic reading, writing and accounting skills required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills needed.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Spend the majority of your time on the selling floor coaching and modeling exceptional customer service.
• Train and oversee the daily work activity of team members in one or more departments.
• Enforce loss prevention procedures and ensure area is maintained and merchandised.
• Assist in the daily operation of the store and act as Manager-on-Duty in absence of the manager.
• Assist with assigning work and directing team members to manage multiple projects.
• Assist with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
• Part-time schedules may vary but are year-round.
• Routine housekeeping duties including dusting, mopping, window cleaning, vacuuming, and trash removal.
