Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking a part-time Supervisor to support store operations, coach staff on the sales floor, and deliver exceptional customer service to the academic community. The role requires 18+ years of age, 2+ years in retail, and a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

You will assist in daily operations, train team members, and help ensure the store runs smoothly, including processing transactions and handling loss prevention tasks.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in a retail setting preferred.
• Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age to be considered for employment.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Outstanding customer service skills to match customers to products that meet their needs.
• Basic reading, writing and accounting skills required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills needed.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Spend the majority of time on the selling floor coaching and modeling exceptional customer service.
• Train and oversee daily work activity of team members in one or more departments.
• Enforce loss prevention procedures and ensure area is maintained and merchandised.
• Assist in daily operation of the store and act as Manager-on-Duty in absence of manager.
• Assist with assigning work and directing team members to complete multiple projects.
• Process sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments as needed.
