Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking a part-time Supervisor to support management and oversee staff across a department or satellite store, delivering outstanding customer service and ensuring daily store operations run smoothly.

The role emphasizes coaching on the sales floor, knowledge of store departments, and handling customer issues, with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays in a retail setting.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in a retail setting preferred.
• Minimum age 18 years to be considered for employment.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills needed.

Responsibilities

• Spend the majority of your time on the selling floor delivering, coaching, and modeling exceptional customer service.
• Maintain knowledge of all store departments to provide daily support to customers and team members.
• Help resolve customer issues and complaints, escalating to management when necessary.
• Assist in daily store operations and act as Manager-on-Duty in absence of the manager or at satellite locations.
• Assign work and provide direction to team members to manage multiple projects and ensure workload execution.
• Process sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments as needed.
• Part-time positions require availability to work weekly year round; schedules may be set or vary.
• Routine housekeeping such as dusting, mopping, window cleaning, vacuuming, and trash removal.
