Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to assist with store operations, customer service and team development at our Waterloo location. The role involves opening/closing procedures, merchandise handling, payroll and loss prevention tasks, and leading store associates to maintain a safe, friendly shopping environment.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent and prior store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store settings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Retail store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and frequent walking, standing, bending, and climbing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process directives including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, data requests and communications.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits/receipts), and loss prevention.
• Keep the store well-stocked, with organized stockroom and clean sales floor.
• Protect and secure all assets, including store cash; follow safety guidelines.
• Support Store Manager in training and developing Store Associates; foster a positive environment.
