Job summary

Allied Universal in Bronx, NY is seeking a Security Officer (Transitional Housing) to safeguard residents and staff. This part-time role offers a schedule that can be tailored to your availability and contributes to shelter operations with a visible security presence.

You will perform patrols, monitor access, and respond to incidents with a calm, professional approach. Training and advancement opportunities are provided by Allied Universal.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Background check conducted in accordance with laws.
• Criminal histories considered per applicable laws.
• Drug screen may be required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements may apply depending on state/local laws.
• A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, respectful, and problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate personnel and/or emergency services when needed.
• Conduct regular and random foot patrols throughout the shelter location, including entrances, common areas, exterior grounds, and perimeter areas, to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity in accordance with site procedures, documenting incidents, observations, and interactions accurately and promptly.
• Support a respectful and welcoming environment while maintaining professional boundaries and following protocols for de-escalation, conflict resolution, and emergency response.
