Job summary

Allied Universal in Brooklyn, NY seeks a Security Officer Transitional Housing Control Access to provide security for residents and staff at a shelter location. This Part Time role offers flexible scheduling and the chance to contribute to a welcoming environment while gaining experience in security operations.

You will monitor entrances, perform patrols, manage access points, and document incidents for leadership review, with a focus on safety, integrity, and community trust.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• A state, county, or city-issued security-related license is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Access control or badge experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and/or service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a shelter location.
• Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, respectful, problem-solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of building areas, entrances, common spaces, and the surrounding perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points, observe visitor activity, and assist with maintaining orderly entry and exit procedures in accordance with site policies.
• Document incidents, observations, and patrol activities accurately, and communicate relevant information to site leadership and Allied Universal supervision.
