Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer for a Transitional Housing facility in the Bronx, NY. This part-time role focuses on unarmed patrols, access control, and resident support with a strong emphasis on customer service and professional conduct.

Responsibilities include patrolling shelter areas, monitoring entrances, responding to incidents, and maintaining a calm, respectful approach while ensuring safety. A HS diploma, background check, and drug screening are required.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, respectful, and problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate personnel and/or emergency services when needed.
• Conduct regular and random foot patrols throughout the shelter location, including entrances, common areas, exterior grounds, and perimeter areas, to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity in accordance with site procedures, documenting incidents, observations, and interactions accurately and promptly.
• Support a respectful and welcoming environment while maintaining professional boundaries and following protocols for de-escalation, conflict resolution, and emergency response.
