Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital seeks a part-time Medical Assistant to support clinical and administrative tasks in School Health. The role works 32 hours per week, Monday through Friday while school is in session, onsite, under Providers and licensed Nurses.

Responsibilities include patient prep, vital signs, phlebotomy, data collection for care plans, lab specimen handling, documentation, and basic clerical duties.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Experience in healthcare environment preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) required.
• EPIC or similar EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interfaces with patients and families under Provider/Nurse supervision.
• Prepares patients for examination; records vital signs; performs phlebotomy as needed; administers meds per policy.
• Collects data for assessments and discharge plans under supervision.
• Collects, processes, and submits laboratory specimens.
• Communicates findings to Provider/Nurse using proper documentation.
• Documents care timely in school medical records.
• Performs department-specific clinical duties (POCT, hearing/vision screenings).
• Performs routine clerical tasks (faxing, copying, filing).
• Maintains examination rooms by cleaning and stocking.
