Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support under the direction of a Provider or licensed Nurse in a school health setting. The role includes patient prep, vital signs, and basic procedures.

The position is part-time and onsite, with duties spanning patient care and record-keeping, while fostering positive relationships with students, families, and school staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate program or EMT/Paramedic program; years of experience may be credited if missing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Medical Assistant certification (CMA or RMA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Actively interfaces with patients and families of Akron Children's Hospital.
• Prepares patients for examination; takes and records vital signs; performs phlebotomy as needed; administers medications as directed by Providers.
• Collects data contributing to assessment and evaluation of care and needs of patients under Licensed Nurse direction.
• Collects, processes, and submits laboratory specimens per policy.
• Documents patient findings and information to Provider and/or Licensed Nurse.
