Job summary

Akron Children's School Health is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to support providers with clinical and administrative tasks. The role includes preparing patients, taking vital signs, performing phlebotomy as needed, and assisting with documentation in the school medical record.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, completion of a MA certificate program, BLS certification, and CMA/RMA certification if possible.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate program, EMT, or paramedic program; prior credit if applicable.
• BLS training from American Heart Association required.
• Medical Assistant certification (CMA or RMA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients and families of Akron Children's Hospitals.
• Prepares patients for examination; records vital signs; performs phlebotomy as needed; administers medications as directed by Providers.
• Collects data for assessment and discharge planning under supervision of a Licensed Nurse.
• Collects, processes and submits laboratory specimens.
• Documents care accurately in the school medical record.
