Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support for patients under the direction of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse. This onsite, school-based role interfaces with patients and families and helps prepare exams, take vitals, and assist with routine procedures.

The individual will collect data for assessments, document care, and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and staff.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
• Experience in healthcare environment is preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) is required.
• EPIC or similar EMR experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients and families of Akron Children's Hospitals.
• Prepares patients for exam; records vitals; performs phlebotomy as needed; administers medications as directed by Providers.
• Collects data for assessment and discharge planning under the Licensed Nurse.
• Collects, processes, and submits laboratory specimens per policy.
• Communicates findings to Providers; documents in the medical record.
• Documents care accurately and timely in school medical records.
