Pratt Industries, Inc. in Staten Island, NY is seeking a PT Scale House Operator to greet drivers and ensure accurate weighing of entering and leaving trucks.

This hourly, non-exempt role requires strong people and computer skills and offers a shift from 11:45 am to 11:45 pm with alternating Saturdays and Sundays. You will handle disposal tickets, review delivery documentation, maintain professional conduct, communicate by radio, and monitor the pump house while supporting yard and mill staff.

Qualifications

• Pleasant friendly personality who likes working with people.
• General computer skills – will train in specific software packages.
• Individual should be detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Greet all incoming truck drivers and visitors at the scale house.
• Ensure all trucks are properly and accurately weighed on the scale both entering and leaving the facility.
• Ascertain the client name and job location for each delivery.
• Begin and close each disposal ticket into the waste management software.
• Review proper documentation for all deliveries.
• Represent the company in a professional, courteous manner at all times.
• Ability to take and utilize comprehensive notes.
• Control traffic flow, especially when FDNY and other emergency vehicles are on the property.
• Ability to communicate over the radio to yard crew, mill staff, etc.
• Monitor pump house status.
