Responsibilities

  • Operate truck scales to weigh incoming and outgoing vehicles.
  • Record, verify, and process weight data using scale software.
  • Generate scale tickets, invoices, receipts, and documentation.
  • Inspect and verify shipping and receiving documents for accuracy.
  • Communicate with drivers, customers, dispatchers, and site personnel regarding loads and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials received, shipped, or disposed of.
  • Monitor scale equipment and report malfunctions or maintenance needs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Answer phones, respond to customer inquiries, and perform general administrative duties.
  • Balance daily transactions and prepare reports as required.
  • Assist with inventory tracking and reconciliation of material quantities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional scale house environment.

Description

The Scale House Operator is responsible for accurately weighing inbound and outbound vehicles, maintaining scale records, processing transactions, and providing excellent customer service. This position serves as the primary point of contact for drivers, customers, and vendors, ensuring compliance with company policies, environmental regulations, and safety procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate truck scales to weigh incoming and outgoing vehicles.
  • Record, verify, and process weight data using computerized scale software.
  • Generate scale tickets, invoices, receipts, and other documentation.
  • Inspect and verify shipping and receiving documents for accuracy.
  • Communicate with drivers, customers, dispatchers, and site personnel regarding load information and site procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials received, shipped, or disposed of.
  • Monitor scale equipment and report malfunctions or maintenance needs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating computer systems.

  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions depending on facility operations.

Preferred Skills
